Machine service and support

Servo Drive & Motor Fault Diagnosis

Identify the machine, issue, location, production impact, parts need, installation requirement, training need, or warranty question.

Preserve the exact alarm and machine state

Servo faults can originate in the drive, motor, encoder, cable, connector, power supply, braking resistor, mechanical load, coupling, reducer, ball screw, rack, guide, lubrication, tuning, parameters, PLC logic or safety chain.

Information to record

  • Machine, controller, axis, drive and motor brand/model/serial number.
  • Complete alarm code and text, when it occurs, direction, speed, load and temperature.
  • Recent collision, wiring, parameter, battery, motor, drive or mechanical work.
  • Whether the axis moves freely under documented safe conditions and whether the fault follows a component swap approved by the manufacturer.

Safety boundary

Do not megger an encoder circuit, disconnect motor or feedback cables while energized, bypass safety, load parameters from another machine, defeat overtravel or repeatedly reset overcurrent, ground, overtemperature or feedback alarms. Stored DC-bus energy and unexpected motion require qualified personnel and documented discharge procedures.

Request servo or drive diagnosis.
