Equipment financing planning

Equipment Payment Planning Calculator

Estimate a payment using the actual equipment amount, down payment, term and rate supplied by your financing provider.

Use this calculator to build an illustrative payment scenario for fabrication equipment. Enter the planned equipment amount, down payment, annual rate, and term supplied by your lender.

What the estimate includes

The result is a planning estimate only. It may not include taxes, lender fees, insurance, freight, installation, training, consumables, or supporting equipment.

Before you make a decision

Confirm the final payment schedule, total financed amount, prepayment terms, and approval conditions directly with the lender. Any tax scenario should be reviewed with a qualified tax professional using current rules.

Equipment Payment & Section 179 Estimator

Two calculations a capital equipment buyer needs side by side: what the monthly payment looks like at the rate your lender quoted, and what the 2026 Section 179 and bonus depreciation arithmetic does to the first-year cost.

The purchase

Use the quoted price of the equipment. Freight, rigging, tooling and installation may or may not be eligible for the same treatment — ask your CPA.
Down payment

We do not supply a rate. Rates are set by the lender and depend on credit, time in business, equipment type and term. Enter the number from your own quote or approval — anything else produces a payment figure that means nothing.

For the Section 179 panel

Use the effective federal rate your CPA expects for the business, not a bracket you looked up. This drives the tax-savings estimate and nothing else. State treatment is not modeled here at all.

Enter the rate your lender quoted to calculate a payment.

Section 179 & bonus depreciation — 2026

  • Equipment price
  • Section 179 deduction
  • Bonus depreciation on the remaining basis (100 %)
  • Estimated first-year deduction
  • × your stated tax rate
  • Estimated tax savings
  • Estimated net cost after tax savings

  • This is an estimate, not tax advice. UmproTech is an equipment dealer, not a tax advisor.
  • Section 179 requires that the equipment be purchased and placed in service within the tax year. Equipment sitting on a truck or uncrated on the floor on December 31 is not placed in service. This is the deadline that catches buyers out.
  • The Section 179 deduction is limited by your business taxable income. It cannot create or increase a loss. This calculator does not model that limit — your actual deduction may be lower than shown.
  • Eligibility, limits and state treatment vary. Several states decouple from the federal figures entirely. Nothing on this page models state tax.
  • How you finance affects eligibility. Purchases and certain finance structures generally qualify; a true operating lease is treated differently. Confirm the structure with your CPA before signing.
  • Confirm everything with a CPA or tax professional before making a purchase decision on the strength of a deduction.
About financing

UmproTech does not approve financing and does not set rates. Rates, terms, structure and approval come from the lender, based on their own credit review. Nothing on this page is an offer, an approval, a pre-approval, or an indication of what any lender will do.

Equipment financing is available through Ceiling Financial. Apply at https://ceilingfinancial.fillout.com/umprotech. Approval, rate, term, down payment and final documents are determined by the lender.

The math, in full

Monthly payment uses the standard amortization formula:

M = P × [ r(1+r)ⁿ ] ÷ [ (1+r)ⁿ − 1 ]

  • M = monthly payment
  • P = amount financed (price minus down payment)
  • r = monthly interest rate = annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100
  • n = number of monthly payments (the term)

At a 0 % rate the formula divides by zero, so the calculator switches to M = P ÷ n instead. A $60,000 balance over 60 months at 0 % is exactly $1,000 a month.

Total of payments = M × n. Total interest = total of payments minus the amount financed.

This models a simple amortizing loan. It does not model documentation fees, origination fees, advance payments, a security deposit, a residual or balloon payment, a $1 buyout, or an FMV lease. Any of those will change the real payment. The lender’s own quote is the number that counts.

Section 179 and bonus depreciation are applied in the order the IRS applies them — Section 179 first, then bonus depreciation on whatever basis is left:

  • If the total equipment placed in service for the year is at or below the spending cap, the Section 179 deduction is the lesser of the price and the deduction limit.
  • Above the spending cap the deduction phases out dollar for dollar: limit − (price − spending cap), floored at zero.
  • Whatever basis remains after Section 179 is eligible for 100 % bonus depreciation for qualified property acquired and placed in service after January 19, 2025.
  • Estimated tax savings = first-year deduction × your stated tax rate. Net cost = price − estimated tax savings.

A deduction reduces taxable income; it is not a credit and it is not a refund. The saving is real only to the extent you owe tax against which to take it.

Section 179 limits for 2026

2026 figures published in IRS Publication 946. Verify with your own CPA and current IRS guidance before relying on them — these figures are indexed and change annually.
Item2026 figure
Section 179 deduction limit$2,560,000
Spending cap — phase-out begins$4,090,000
Phase-out complete — no Section 179 available$6,650,000
Bonus depreciation100 % for qualified property acquired and placed in service after January 19, 2025

The phase-out is dollar for dollar above the spending cap, which is why the two figures are exactly $2,560,000 apart. Most single-machine fabrication equipment purchases sit far below the cap, so the practical limit for a typical buyer is the deduction limit and their own taxable income — not the phase-out.

Next steps

Two separate conversations, and they run in parallel — do not wait for one to finish before starting the other.

  • The equipment. Get the machine specified and quoted so you have a real price to work with, and a realistic ship and install date — the placed-in-service date is what governs the tax year.
  • The money. Take the quote to your lender for a rate and structure, and take the same quote to your CPA for the deduction treatment.

Bring these to the conversation: the equipment quote, your target in-service date, your term preference, and your CPA’s view on this year’s taxable income.

  • Monthly payment figures use the standard amortization formula. No rate is supplied by UmproTech; the rate is entered by the user from their own lender quote.

All figures are estimates for planning only and are not tax, legal or financial advice. Payment figures depend entirely on the rate and structure your lender offers; deduction figures depend on your business’s taxable income, the in-service date and state treatment. Confirm with your lender and a CPA before making a purchase decision.
