A successful machine startup begins before the truck or technician arrives.

UmproTech plans installation, startup and operator training around the exact machine, site, utilities, unloading method, production application and customer team. The applicable quotation defines what is included, who is responsible for each task and what must be complete before scheduling.

Installation, startup and training are different scopes

  • Delivery and unloading: freight coordination, site access, crane or forklift, rigging and placement.
  • Installation: mechanical preparation, leveling, assembly and connection boundaries stated in the quote.
  • Startup and commissioning: identity check, utility verification, controlled power-up, calibration and functional testing.
  • Operator training: safe operating sequence, controller workflow, setup, routine checks and representative application work.
  • Production development: advanced programming, process optimization, special tooling or extended application work when separately defined.

Remote guidance, on-site labor, travel and training are included only when the written machine package or service authorization says so.

Site-readiness checklist

  • Final machine layout, service clearances, access path and floor capacity.
  • Approved unloading and rigging plan using correctly rated equipment and qualified personnel.
  • Verified voltage, phase, frequency, available amperage, disconnect, protection and grounding.
  • Required transformer or converter, compressed air, process gas, cooling, extraction, drainage and network connection.
  • Completed permits, electrical work, gas work, ducting, barriers, guarding and facility modifications.
  • Representative material, drawings, tooling, consumables and test requirements.
  • Authorized operators and maintenance personnel available for the scheduled handoff.
  • Employer safety programs, PPE, lockout/tagout and laser or machinery safety controls in place.

Typical startup workflow

  1. Confirm the model, serial number, delivered configuration and shipping condition.
  2. Review placement, leveling, fluids, lubrication, cables, connectors and accessories.
  3. Verify customer-provided electrical, air, gas, cooling, extraction and network conditions.
  4. Power up the applicable controller, source, chiller, hydraulic, servo, backgauge, chuck, feeder and safety systems in a controlled sequence.
  5. Complete machine-specific calibration and functional checks.
  6. Run representative test work within the agreed acceptance scope.
  7. Document completed items, restrictions, remaining actions and the support route.

Operator training may include

  • Startup, shutdown and daily inspection.
  • Controller navigation, files, programs and backups.
  • Material, tooling, gas, focus, bend or process setup as applicable.
  • Consumables, routine maintenance and common alarm response.
  • Representative cutting, bending, welding, cleaning, sawing or machining workflow.
  • Safe operating boundaries and escalation points.

Training does not replace the employer’s OSHA, laser-safety, electrical, lockout/tagout, rigging, fire, respiratory or process-specific qualification program.

Common exclusions unless specifically quoted

Freight, tax, unloading, rigging, crane or forklift, final electrical connection, transformer or converter, gas supply, compressor, extraction, facility changes, permits, foundation work, customer materials, production programming, overtime or weekend work, repeat travel caused by site unreadiness and repairs unrelated to initial startup are not automatically included.

Scheduling and readiness

A proposed date is not confirmed until the equipment status, site-readiness information, technician availability, travel and commercial authorization are complete. If the site is not ready or unsafe, work may be paused and a return visit or change order may be required.
