Machines, applications, and planning
Connect the production requirement to the right machine family, exact configuration, facility plan, delivery scope, ownership path, and technical resources.
A press-brake quote should start with part drawings, material grade and strength, typical and maximum thickness, full bend length, shortest flange, inside radius, bend angle, V-opening, bending method, tooling, production mix, accuracy, handling and future work.
Tonnage depends on material strength, thickness, bend length, V-opening and bending method. Full-length capacity can be very different from the tonnage required for short brackets. Bottoming and coining require substantially more force than air bending. The machine frame, punch, die, holder and clamping ratings must all exceed the calculated line load.
An entry-level NC brake may use ram depth and X-axis backgauge control. A production 4-axis brake normally uses Y1, Y2, X and R. A 6-axis system adds independent Z1 and Z2 finger positioning. CNC crowning is not counted as one of those four or six axes. Require the exact controller model, licensed axes, software, tooling library, program storage, connectivity and support.
“Standard tooling included” is not enough. The quote should identify punch and die profiles, angle, radius, V-opening, segmentation, length, hardness, load rating, clamping interface and whether the tools fit the actual parts. Narrower V-openings can create tighter radii but increase required force.
Confirm light curtain or laser guarding, emergency stops, foot pedal, side and rear protection, risk assessment, voltage, motor load, oil, floor, access, unloading, rigging, placement, leveling, startup, calibration, test bends, training, warranty and service.
