Y1 and Y2 control ram depth and parallelism
Electro-hydraulic press brakes use independent left and right ram feedback. Synchronization faults can involve linear scales, reference positions, valves, cylinders, hydraulic pressure, controller parameters, frame or tooling alignment, contamination, mechanical binding or uneven loading.
Symptoms
- Y1/Y2 alarm, ram out of level, one side leading, inconsistent angle across the bed or failure to reference.
- Unexpected correction, slow approach, hydraulic noise, overheating, leakage or drift.
- Angle variation that remains after material, tooling and crowning assumptions are checked.
Service review
Provide the controller, alarm, Y1/Y2 displayed positions, hydraulic pressure, oil temperature, tooling, load location, recent maintenance and video of a safe reference sequence. Service may review linear scales, mounting, valve response, cylinder behavior, reference calibration, hydraulic condition and representative bends.
Do not enter the die space, bypass safeguarding, adjust protected synchronization parameters or work on hydraulic components under pressure.
