Part accuracy depends on machine, tooling, material and process

Angle, flange length, straightness and repeatability are affected by material strength and thickness, grain, V-opening, punch radius, tooling alignment, crowning, Y1/Y2 depth, backgauge reference, part support, temperature and measurement method.

Separate the symptom

• Same error on every part: program, tooling data, material assumption, ram depth or backgauge offset.
• Angle changes across the bed: tooling alignment, deflection, crowning, load distribution, Y1/Y2 or material variation.
• Flange-length variation: X-axis reference, finger contact, part handling, springback sequence or backgauge mechanics.
• Part-to-part variation: material lot, thickness, grain, lubrication, handling, temperature, tooling wear or machine repeatability.

Information to send

Provide the drawing, material grade, measured thickness, bend length, tooling profiles, V-opening, target and actual angle, flange measurements, controller program, correction values, crowning and photographs of the setup and sample parts.
