An open single-table fiber laser can reduce purchase cost and footprint. An enclosed exchange-table machine can improve operator separation and production flow. The right design depends on the application, power, production volume, safety program, loading method, extraction, floor space and budget.

Open single-table machine

• Lower entry cost and simpler material access.
• Useful for job shops, lower-power systems and frequent manual loading.
• Requires a site-specific Class 4 laser-safety plan, controlled access, guarding or barriers, PPE, signage and extraction appropriate to the installation.
• The machine is unavailable for cutting while the single table is being unloaded and reloaded.

Enclosed exchange-table machine

• Enclosure and interlocked access can improve operator separation when correctly designed and used.
• Exchange tables can support loading and unloading while the other table is in the cutting area.
• Requires more floor space, foundation and access planning, extraction, maintenance clearance and project cost.
• The enclosure does not eliminate the need for safety procedures, interlock maintenance, fire controls and risk assessment.
