Machines, applications, and planning
Connect the production requirement to the right machine family, exact configuration, facility plan, delivery scope, ownership path, and technical resources.
Fiber-laser electrical planning includes more than the advertised laser power. The installation may include the machine, laser source, CNC and servo system, chiller, compressor, dryer, fume collector, nitrogen generator, booster, automation, transformer, lighting, network and auxiliary equipment.
Industrial 3-phase service is preferred for most production fiber lasers. The machine's internal input may differ from the facility supply, so a correctly sized transformer can be required. A 208V or 480V 3-phase building does not automatically mean the machine connects directly. The build sheet must identify the machine input voltage, phase, frequency, full-load current and transformer requirement.
Single-phase operation is valid only for a specifically engineered and approved machine package. It is not a generic claim for every machine with the same laser power. Confirm the total connected load, available panel capacity, conductor size, breaker, conversion method, compressor load, duty cycle and local electrician review. High-power production systems normally require 3-phase service.
Before delivery, obtain a machine-specific schedule showing machine input, source, chiller, compressor, extraction and other loads; full-load current; recommended breaker and disconnect; transformer kVA and primary/secondary voltage; grounding; conductor and distance assumptions; and any neutral requirement. A licensed electrician should review the final documents and local code requirements.
