Fiber Laser Cutting Aluminum

Connect the production requirement to the right machine family, exact configuration, facility plan, delivery scope, ownership path, and technical resources.

Review alloy, reflectivity, heat conduction and gas demand

Aluminum cutting depends on alloy and temper, thickness, surface, flatness, laser source and head rating, nitrogen or air supply, focus, nozzle, speed, heat input and accepted edge.

Alloy matters

Different aluminum alloys can cut and pierce differently. Confirm the actual alloy, temper, coating, anodizing or protective film rather than using a generic aluminum label.

Assist gas

Nitrogen is commonly reviewed for a clean edge. Properly conditioned compressed air can be evaluated for selected applications. Both require stable pressure and flow; gas delivery can become the limiting system.

Heat and part geometry

Aluminum conducts heat rapidly, and thin parts, dense nests, small features and internal stress can affect distortion and edge condition. Nesting, lead-ins, sequence and part support should be considered.

System compatibility

Confirm source and cutting-head approval, back-reflection protection, optics, process parameters and sample results. Do not assume every source/head combination supports every alloy and thickness.
