Troubleshoot one controlled variable at a time

Cut quality depends on material, grade, thickness, surface, source output, head condition, protective optics, focus, nozzle, centering, height, gas purity, pressure, flow, speed, power, frequency, duty, pierce and machine motion.

Record the process state

• Material grade, thickness, coating, surface and lot.
• Gas type, purity, pressure at source and machine, flow, regulator and supply condition.
• Nozzle type and diameter, ceramic, nozzle centering, standoff and focus position.
• Power, speed, frequency, duty, pierce strategy, lead-in, corner control and nesting density.
• Protective-window condition, chiller temperatures, alarms and recent maintenance.

Common patterns

Dross, incomplete cut, heavy oxidation, rough edge, striations, burning, unstable piercing, taper or inconsistent direction can each have multiple causes. Compare against a known-good material and approved parameter set, inspect consumables and optics safely, verify gas delivery and avoid random multi-parameter changes.
