6kW vs 12kW Fiber Laser

Higher power is useful only when the complete production system supports it

A 6kW fiber laser can be a strong production class for common fabrication thicknesses and mixed materials. A 12kW system can add throughput and approved heavier-sheet capability, but it also changes the bed, head, cooling, gas, extraction, electrical, safety and operating-cost requirements.

6kW is usually the better fit when

• Daily work is common sheet-metal fabrication rather than regular heavy plate.
• The shop wants a production upgrade from 3kW without the full high-power infrastructure.
• Electrical, gas, cooling and extraction capacity are limited.
• Capital and operating cost must remain balanced with a mixed workload.

12kW is reviewed when

• Higher throughput on approved common thicknesses has measurable production value.
• Regular heavier-sheet work justifies a thermally reinforced machine and higher-capacity utilities.
• The shop can support high gas flow, compressed air, cooling, extraction and industrial electrical load.
• Representative process testing confirms the required edge, pierce and duty-cycle result.
